AN INTRODUCTION OF HTPT

Help The People Trust was established on 5th July 1997 with the vision of  poverty alleviation of the Ummah. The mission is to start an experiment in Bangladesh with a Murabaha programme.

Here are brief introductions to the trustees:

1. Maulana Habibur Rahman, Senior most Trustee - He was president of UK Islamic Mission for nearly 10 years. He was also a secondary school teacher. He is a well known Imam in the U.K. and is Chairman of the Muslim Educational Trust. At present, he is heavily engaged in two independent Islamic schools in Manchester, one for boys the other for girls.

2. A.K.M Abdussalam, Chairman - One of the founding presidents of  UK Islamic Mission and the founding president of Dawatul Islam, UK, which he led for over 11 years. Former chairman of the London Islamic College in the East End. He is Director of the Muslim Communities Development Project, London.

3. Mr. Ebrahimsa Mohamed, Vice chairman - In his student life he was president of The Federation of Students Islamic Societies (FOSIS). He has been the Executive Secretary of Islamic Council of Europe for the last 20 years. He is a well-known Islamic activist from Malaysia.

4. Syed Ashraf Hussain, General Secretary - Former diplomat and is now employed in local government in welfare education.

5. Dr. Farid Shayyal, a senior University lecturer in London.

6. Dr. Abdul Karim Khalil - Treasurer. He is the director of the Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre in North Kensington. It is a five and a half million pound project.  It comprises of a mosque, training centre, library and many other facilities for the Muslims. The building of this multi-purpose centre has been completed only recently.

7. Mr. R. Ahmed - International Secretary. He is by profession strategic management trainer, an economist, and he is one of the Muslim Members of the British Government’s Race Relations Forum. He is a member of the Institute of Management and is also a certified member of the Institute of Charity Fund-raising Managers (ICFM) and sits on its executive committee. He has wide experience of management and consultancy in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

8. Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Khan - trustee. A Chartered Accountant.

9. Muhammed Shamsuddin Siddiqui - trustee. A Chartered Accountant.

10. Prof. Farid Ahmed Reza - trustee. Columnist and former President of Dawatul Islam (U.K).

11. Dr. Ahmed Zaman Khan - trustee. President of UK Islamic Mission, Liverpool branch. A retired dentist.

12. Mubarak Ali -  trustee. A businessman.

13. Farooq Salman Murad, Former President of Young Muslims, and President of Islamic Society of Britain. He is an Islamic awareness trainer for Non-Muslim professionals. He works as a management training consultant as well.

The trust has already been registered as a company limited by guarantee with the Company’s House.
The Trust is also registered with the Charity Commission, in the U.K.
